In order to use an estimated make sure the figure is in edit mode and click on the estimate radio button and then click on the three dots next to the estimated income figure. This will allow you to enter a capital gain or to change the income figure.
Once the dialogue is closed by clicking X, the figures on the ledger will be updated.
